We understand that reaching out for the first time to either report or share your experiences of sexual abuse is a big step to take. We also recognise there may also be something stopping you from doing so; you may be feeling confused, frightened, alone, worried, unsafe, and even ashamed as a result of what has happened to you. It is important for you to know that Sexual Abuse is never your fault; we are here to support you on your journey in understanding the impact of what has happened and to guide you through this difficult time.
What we do
- Our website provides direct links to a range of specialist support services ; We can support you to get in touch with them or you can contact them directly
- It might be that you're ready for counselling, we can signpost you to a service where a counsellor can help you explore the impact of sexual abuse within a safe and confidential space where your experiences will be heard without judgment
- We work alongside your parent or carer and other professionals such as teachers and social workers so they are able to understand the effects of sexual abuse and how they can best support you
- If your case is going through a police investigation or a court process then we can link you with a service designed to provide emotional and practical support during this time
What can you expect if you make contact with the Beacon Project
- If you have been unable to find what you are looking for via our website, and need to send an enquiry to us, Beacon will reply to you via email to let you know we have received it
- Beacon will then take a look at your enquiry to see how we can best support you
- You will then receive an email reply with details of support services you can contact (this is called signposting) or if you prefer we can do this on your behalf
- The service that you have been signposted to will then make contact with you to let you know the steps that will follow
